Fandango, the ultimate digital network for all things movies, is reporting that "Captain Marvel" is now its biggest advance ticket seller since "Avengers: Infinity War" at the same point in the sales cycle.
"Captain Marvel is all over the place, careening from far-flung laser-spraying cosmos to the car-chasing streets of '90s Los Angeles". In other words: yes, it's fun.
Like many movies in the MCU, the first act of Captain Marvel is its strongest, with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck making a great case to helm the next iteration of the Star Trek franchise. The actor bizarrely keeps his thick Aussie accent intact beneath his rubber mask, and the character says things that aliens simply would not say, such as "Hang on now, before you go swinging those jazz hands around!" Plus, when you're used to the most recent Marvel films, where we already know each character and can see them shine nearly immediately, and Captain Marvel's "big moment" takes far too long to arrive.
Fortunately, Brie Larson is rather good in the role; she's outstanding at maintaining battle-hardened prose while also delivering smartass quips similar to Tony Stark. This superhero, coolly straddling two worlds, returns soon in "Avengers: Endgame" this spring; I hope that jacket comes, too.
"I will never forget tonight", she marveled. When Danvers goes full Captain Marvel, though, the photon blasts coming out of her arms are full-on early 21 century.
Via Comicbook.com, after a Twitter user sent out a tweet telling the "white men haters" to stay home for "Captain Marvel", Woods made a decision to reply on Twitter, writing, "Okay".
We'll have to wait and see until each one's release to know for sure... fingers crossed they do.
Right from the outset, Captain Marvel comes in swinging. Lynch manages to ground the movie with a serious and poignant throughline and ideal counterbalance to Carol's brash heroics and her sometimes slapstick buddy-cop relationship with Fury. The trailers do absolutely nothing for this movie (outside of that cat moment). Captain Marvel doesn't quite become the powerful feminist movie it purports to be, but it is empowering.
The movie will hit United Kingdom and U.S. cinemas on March 8.
Reading the responses about Wonder Woman from a huge amount of women, regardless of race, sexuality, etc., I saw a lot of people talking about loving it and crying over it, and I wanted to feel that way when I watched it for the first time, but I just felt kind of bored and frustrated most of the time. All Hail a new heroine who can kicks as much ass, if not more, than any of her male counterparts. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren't getting the same opportunities as others. Carol Danvers is fearless because Maria's daughter tells her that she's fearless. She's not just tossed into the Marvel Universe, appearing out of nowhere to save the Avengers.

For clarification, Captain Marvel would still be an above average, fairly worthwhile entry into the extended universe without that climactic demonstration of planet-saving destruction, but numerous plot beats here are familiar and predictable. When she was on Earth, she worked with a brilliant scientist, Wendy Lawson (Bening, again), developing light-speed technology for an Air Force-associated organization called Pegasus. This latest Marvel Studios expansion pack stars Oscar victor Brie Larson as an amnesiac.
