U.S., Russian Federation will ‘work jointly’ to ensure Israel’s security

Russia's President Vladimir Putin tried to lighten the mood at a post-summit news conference with American leader Donald Trump on Monday by tossing him a World Cup football.

"The role of the Intelligence Community is to provide the best information and fact-based assessments possible for the president and policymakers", Coats said in a emailed statement Monday.

Republican politicians in the United States have joined the Democrats and intelligence officials in denouncing President Donald Trump's failure to challenge Russian President Vladimir Putin over interference in the U.S. elections, calling his response as "shameful" and "disgraceful".

President Donald Trump's soft stance towards Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin reportedly caught the White House by surprise.

"I will say this, I don't see any reason why it would be [Russia]", he replied, before quickly trying to defer to the Democratic National Committee's server that was hacked.

On Monday, Trump also resurrected several debunked conspiracy theories about his opponent Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party, called out an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent involved in the meddling probe by name and complained about media coverage.

There were indications of an arrangement to work together and with Israel to support a ceasefire in southern Syria, suggesting that the U.S. administration is backing off its demand that Moscow's ally Bashar al-Assad step down.

Mr Trump called his meeting with Mr Putin "a good start, a very good start for everybody" as the two leaders and their top advisers sat across the table from one another during a luncheon. "Putin's poodle: Trump sells out U.S. intelligence agencies with the world watching", said The New York Daily News.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, notoriously late for official engagements, was delayed on his way from Russia to meet President Donald Trump in Finland, forcing Trump to cool his heels at the hotel. "Trump just channels his and the Russian Foreign Ministry and RT narrative that it was all Obama's fault". Not only were Trump's comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin.

If Trump doesn't care about the state of US-German relations, US-Canadian relations or US-UK relations - all of which he has damaged in the past month - why would he care about US relations with a country that has one-fourteenth of America's GDP and one-tenth of its defence budget?

Mr Trump laid out a list of topics for discussion that notably did not include Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. "The world hasn't seen a USA president like this in modern times, and as ever in Trump World everyone else will have to adapt". I think the U.S. has been foolish. Putin asked in the interview, after Wallace showed him a copy of the indictments.

New York Times foreign affairs columnist Thomas Friedman, the chief media propagandist for the Iraq war, described Trump as "an asset of Russian intelligence", adding sonorously, "My fellow Americans, we are in trouble and we have some big decisions to make today". He referred to the European Union as a "foe" in trade and repeatedly criticised it.

Despite Trump's assertion that Putin has offered a hand, Mueller's office has suggested that the Kremlin has been less than forthcoming in another criminal case brought against Russian individuals.

In 2012, the United States passed the "Sergei Magnitsky Act" which imposed a visa ban and froze the assets of Russian officials implicated in Magnitsky's death. When he was in Brussels last week, Trump slammed Germany for paying "billions and billions of dollars" to Russian Federation to import gas, "the country that we are supposed to be protecting you against".

Trump said he had discussed the issue with German Chancellor Angela Merkel "in pretty strong tones".

Mueller's office has tried to serve summonses on the defendants demanding that they appear in court, but prosecutors say the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russian Federation declined to accept the summonses.

In general, the Russian leader said, the talks with Mr Trump took place in an "open and businesslike atmosphere" and he characterised them as "successful and useful".

On Syria, Trump indicated that he and Putin are working with Bibi Netanyahu, who wants all Iranian forces and Iran-backed militias kept far from the Golan Heights.
