HD Deve Gowda dismisses PM Modi's remarks on him as insignificant

Reiterating his government's promise to double farmer's income by 2020, PM Modi said BJP chief minister candidate B S Yeddyurappa will work hard towards achieving this in Karnataka.

Dynastic politics had ruined democracy, destroyed Karnataka and the aspirations of its people, Modi said. Though local, state and national media gave wide coverage as expected to his visit to the state, his failure to pack enough punch remained the talking point for political pundits on media chat shows. PM further said, 40 percent of the population in the country was unaware about the banking system after so many years of independence, we have linked them to the banking system through the Jan Dhan Yojana. One should not take any special meaning for this, we are not joining hands with them. The BJP cites the past in which there was a term sharing arrangement with the JD (S) which went horribly wrong.

" Noting that becoming Kannadiga means being committed" to protecting Karnataka's land, water and language, the Chief Minister asked, "Will you call a meeting of Chief Ministers of three states to resolve Mahadayi river water sharing dispute?" "He spoke at a rally in Belagavi". In this year's budget, the government had chose to keep minimum support price for all crops at least at one and half times of their production cost. Did he speak anything about farmers? No. He said, "We want a Swachh, Sundar and Surakshit Karnataka".

Speaking about the respect he has for the former prime minister, Modi referred to Gowda as "the son of this land, and a farmer's son".

Back in April 2014, when the BJP was campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, Modi had courted controversy by offering to put Deve Gowda in an old-age home. That, by no estimate, is a small number for any political party.

"Whenever he comes to meet me in Delhi, I make it a point to receive him at the entrance of my home.open the door of the auto for him".

"Before I came here, I was told there is a wave for the BJP", Modi said.

Modi's statement was a clear departure from his earlier statements on the JD (S), and it comes just days ahead of the polls in which JD (S) is touted to be the kingmaker.

His rallies started at Chamarajnagar, Mysuru first, which is largely known as a stronghold of Congress and JD (S).

Though the most resourceful of them-G Janardhana Reddy- has been barred from entering Ballari, in accordance with his bail conditions in the illegal mining case, he is camping near Molakalmuru in Chitradurga district overseeing the campaign of his siblings as also the BJP, which is making a determined effort to form its government in the key southern state for a second time.

"Gowda said JDS has only joined hands with BSP which will make things" easier for the party to gain votes in 20 places.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has 46 million interactions and Cambodia's Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and Argentina's President Mauricio Macri follow with 36 and 33.4 million interactions, respectively. "Both are on the same footing".
