Google will soon require OEMs to roll out 'regular' Android security patches

Google announced new features to make devices smarter and more useful to open its yearly developers' conference. The unsettling feature is facilitated by a technology known as Google Duplex that can accomplish "real world" undertakings on the phone, devoid of the other individual realizing they are making a conversation with a device. With Google Assistant integration, you can quickly get your transit updates and traffic details using your voice commands.

Google introduced the newly improved assistant as a possible advantage for the busy individuals and small companies that have no websites that can be accessed by their clients to make reservations or appointments. What was remarkable and also eery, was that Google Assistant was able to pass itself off as human to the caller as it carried out the task. You can also access more than 1,000 magazine titles in a mobile-optimised reading format.

"Many of us feel tethered to our phones and worry about what we'll miss if we're not connected".

These UI designs from third-party apps exist, for now, only within the search bar but Google expects to add these in overall Android P UI in the stable version of the OS. With this feature available in the latest lineup of smart TVs by LG, buyers won't have to invest separately in a Google Home speaker.

Users can relive their favourite moments by displaying memories from Google Photos.

Chris Messina, a product designer who previously worked for Google, tweeted: "Google Duplex is the most incredible, terrifying thing out of #IO18 so far".

The Assistant won't just make the call here, it will block time on your calendar.

A new feature is called Full Coverage, which Google says provides a complete picture of a single story, from various sources and formats.

The company has also made it more conversational and is also expected to bring Assistant support to more than 80 countries this year and also in more than 30 languages.

The business has set up various guardrails from this information being misused. Even though the calls will sound very natural, the Assistant will be clear about the intent of the call so businesses understand the context.

At the core of it, Duplex is a recurrent neural network that can be trained for highly specialised tasks and it uses Google's automatic speech recognition technology, so it can interface with the user. It is Google's biggest event of the year till now. The news Google News service has been launched to keep up and make sense of it all.

There are a lot of new options coming for developers soon or in the coming months.
