Trump Attacks FBI Raid on Michael Cohen's Law Office (Audio)

A furious Trump, who in the last month has escalated his attacks on Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, said from the White House that it was a "disgrace" that the FBI "broke into" his lawyer's office.

Trump has denied any collusion by his campaign.

Reports surfaced in March that special counsel Robert Mueller was examining documents pertaining to incidents involving Cohen.

The raids represent a dramatic escalation of a federal inquiry led by Mueller into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election and possible collusion by Trump campaign aides.

Regardless, his loyal attorney's comments must have been quite a blow to the president, as he refused to go along with Trump's description of the raid. Then to get this kind of warrant, according to Justice Department rules Mueller needed to get the permission of the U.S. Attorney - in this case, Geoffrey Berman of the Southern District of NY, who was appointed by Trump - and had to consult with the Criminal Division of DOJ, giving them detailed information on exactly what he was seeking and why. Daniels said during an interview with 60 Minutes that she had an affair with Trump and was prepared to tell her story just weeks before the 2016 presidential election, but she signed a paid nondisclosure agreement facilitated by Cohen, telling 60 Minutes she felt "intimidated". Cohen has said neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Daniels and he was not reimbursed for the payment.

According to media reports, Mueller is investigating Cohen for possible bank and wire fraud and campaign finance law violations, which could arise from the payment.

The interim U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY is Geoffrey S. Berman, who was appointed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and is reportedly recused from the investigation.

To conduct a raid on an attorney requires several levels of authorization at the Department of Justice, which means "a judge had to have been satisfied that there was probable cause to believe that the attorney-client relationship had a fraudulent or criminal objective", says Stephen Gillers, professor at the New York University School of Law. POTUS also described Cohen's Monday surprise as part of "a total witch hunt".

Now the feds are also putting the squeeze on Cohen, the trusted consigliere.

The early-morning searches enraged Trump, associates said, setting off an angry public tirade Monday evening that continued in private at the White House as the president fumed about whether he should fire Rosenstein. But the president has said he knew nothing of the payments, and Cohen said he acted on his own. McDougal additionally claims she'd sexual relations with Trump even though he was married to his wife, Melania Trump. Cohen was a longtime proprietor cab medallions, as well as working as a high attorney in the Trump business, the newspaper mentioned.

"This is the most biased group of people, these people have the biggest conflicts of interest I've ever seen".

Asked on Monday after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raids if he would fire Mueller, Trump replied, "We'll see what happens". To sum up, a Republican-appointed former F.B.I. director consulted with a Republican-appointed deputy attorney general, who then authorized a referral to an F.B.I. field office not known for its anti-Trump bias.

When a reporter for the Daily Beast in 2015 quoted a deposition from Trump's first wife, Ivana, who said she had been "raped" by Trump, Cohen told the reporter, as reported by the website: "You write a story that has Mr Trump's name in it, with the word "rape, ' and I'm going to mess your life up. for as long as you're on this frickin" planet. you're going to have judgments against you, so much money, you'll never know how to get out from underneath it". "They would have drafted the warrant, supervised the agent affidavit, presented it to the judge, and supervised the execution of it", McQuade said. If approved, Trump would be the very first sitting president deposed because former President Bill Clinton throughout Ken Starr's particular counselor investigation. "Do I want to be involved in this? No". "When you're a star, they let you do it", Trump said.

Asked if he was anxious, Cohen said: "I would be lying to you if I told that I am not".

We don't know for certain the nature of the Southern District's investigation.

Manafort has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
