Holloway, victor of 12 straight UFC fights, earned some respect from UFC fans for accepting the fight on short notice.
Now, Al Iaquinta will step in and fight the Russian in the main event.
But Lockhart also notes that Holloway is unlike any other fighter he's ever worked with, and if there was anyone who could've pulled off such a huge weight cut, it would be "Blessed".
That means Holloway's fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC's lightweight championship is off the card. Holloway was deemed medically unfit to compete by UFC doctors, who told him to stop trying to cut weight out of concern for his health. During that two hour window, however, reports surfaced that negotiations had become stuck between the Pettis camp and the UFC due to a demand for increased pay.
McGregor was in police custody overnight for attacking a bus full of UFC fighters.
"At one point of my UFC career I had more short notice fights than (scheduled fights)", Holloway said. "I want the title fight in April". As a result, Iaquinta will not win the lightweight championship with a victory. Pettis has lost five of his last seven fights, including a loss to Holloway at UFC 206, which was the fight that first crowned Holloway the interim featherweight champion.
Ray Borg's clash with Brandon Moreno was also removed from the bill because of his injuries in the same incident, as was Artem Lobov's bout against Alex Caceres.
I am going with Nurmagomedov on this one.
His last name is a bit of a tongue-twister (Nurm-a-go-med-ov) which it makes it easier for fans to chant "Khabib".
