Josh McDaniels seems like a pretty darn good football coach, but he also seems like a very untrustworthy person, and that's not going to translate to success, in New England, Denver, Indianapolis, or otherwise.
Ballard wrapped up a news conference in Indianapolis with a shot at the Patriots after the Colts were spurned by McDaniels, who backed out of his agreement to become their head coach in order to remain the Pats offensive coordinator.
According to Ballard, McDaniels called him on Tuesday and said he had bad news. "Either you're in or you're out".
The Colts announced on Tuesday they had signed McDaniels to be their new coach and even set up a news conference for Wednesday.
Campbell is an intriguing new name in the search.
"I love the Patriot nation" he said as his first public comment since turning down the Colts job.
This all stems from Josh's last minute decision to back out of a deal to coach the Indianapolis Colts and go back with the Patriots.
While Ballard said he likes all three and will honor their contracts by keeping them on the next coach's staff, others strongly criticized McDaniels from walking away from them. "I have not gotten that from the two doctors that he's seen here after the season". "Now, if we were sitting middle of March, I'd have a different perspective on it, but let's don't over complicate this". But as Rapoport notes, Colts owner Jim Irsay is apparently a big fan of Frazier's, which is why they are bringing him in to interview.
-Matt Patricia walked into his introductory press conference as the new Detroit Lions head coach with trimmed hair and beard, but he said little about his specific plans for the team. "That's what this organization is built on and you can bet we are going to get there, unquestionably".
It was a roller coaster ride over the last few days as speculation on whether or not McDaniels would be the Colts' new head coach was flying. These reports undoubtedly point toward Belichick preparing McDaniels to be the next head coach of the Patriots. There's a lot of good coaches out there.
The Colts are obviously at a very critical juncture right now with their franchise, and with Andrew Luck's health being a major question mark.
"The rivalry is back on", he said.
