Apple Lays Out the Changes Coming to iOS 11.3

The new Animoji include a lion, skull, bear, and dragon, which brings up the total Animoji count to 16.

IOS 11.3 is now available only as a beta for developers. Apple's lackluster messaging and clarity regarding this software-based battery management - first introduced in 2016 - reignited accusations that the company pushes consumers towards premature upgrades through planned obsolescence. It will also do a better job at tracking irregular horizontal surfaces (say, a round table).

The update will also feature ARKit 1.5, the augmented reality platform that can now recognize the positions of 2D images and integrate them into the world of augmented reality.

The update's main focus is on giving users the decision on prolonging the battery of their iPhone or maximizing performance, but there's more to the incoming software patch. The company's goal, it has said repeatedly, was to prevent older iPhone models with degraded battery health from crashing unexpectedly, when system-intensive apps put more demands on power than the li-ion packs could provide.

Users of iOS will now get relief with iOS 11.2.5 as it will fix the annoying "text bomb" bug that allowed people to lock up your iPhone with a single text message.

The developer preview of iOS 11.3 is available to iOS Developer Programme members at now.

Most notably, iOS 11.3 build 15E5167f contains new battery settings that allow you to view the health of the battery, and control whether your device is being throttled because of it.

Support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML) to automatically send a user's current location when making a call to emergency services in countries where AML is supported. Health Records data is encrypted and requires a passcode.

The iOS 11.3 preview also showed some exciting enhancements to Apple Music, Apple News, and HomeKit.

It then asks users if they want to continue or if they want to learn more about the feature.

Late previous year, Apple ran into some trouble when some long-held suspicions about what happens to older phones when the company rolls out new phones and updates, proved true. Apple has partnered with 12 hospitals on the feature, including Johns Hopkins Medicine and UC San Diego Health. Apple Music, meanwhile, is adding music videos to its streaming offering.

Another new feature will be Business Chat, a new way for users to communicate directly with businesses right within Messages.
