The Community Thanksgiving Dinner has a 27-year history in Jamestown and traces its beginning back to an event at Pantry Cafe.
The La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner is an area tradition that brings a sense of community to the forefront.

NEW HAVEN - Volunteers crammed into the basement at Church of God and Saints of Christ on Beers Street Thursday, and prepared some 600 Thanksgiving meals for elderly residents and shut-ins throughout the city.
He says it's not about a lack of leadership or service at either church, just bad timing.
"We used 600 pounds of onions and 240 bundles of celery", said Kelley.
Each year, for the last seven years the center has served on average 150 meals a year. "We do this so others can see God in the community and so you know if they haven't had that exposure in the past, that we are hoping that they can see that we are helping God's work".
"It's the fellowship of people", said Patricia Carter. "This is my family's sixth year here and there's never a question of if we can do this".
About $3,000 is spent on food, with money donated from businesses and individuals. Whether it's that job you hold so near and dear or a family member you just couldn't do without, this holiday is a fantastic way to remind yourself of how important even the little things can mean to you.
"I've been coming here for probably 20 years. It's truly Thanksgiving", she said. "We're here to reach out to people, not to screen people".
"This is a wonderful way of serving people", Cairns said. We like it, and we come back ever year.
"We've got a good start on Christmas", he said.
This year, more than 70 meals were delivered, which is a far cry from the first year when a single take-out meal was requested.
"I was born on Thanksgiving", Bates said, "so this is how I get my Thanksgiving celebration".
Entire families which came out to help had to tweak plans around the dinner.
"We cook about 10 of them ourselves", Beilke said.
