Alongside the iPhone X, Apple also unveiled iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which are successors to iPhone 7 series.
Apple's tenth-anniversary iPhone edition has left most Apple fans awestruck. And this speculation comes from none other than KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been pretty accurate with most of his predictions when it comes to Apple-related products. Given that the feature is now limited to just the iPhone X, which is due out later this year, it makes sense that Apple wants to continue to maintain the TrueDepth camera as a more "premium" feature. In addition, Kuo said in his latest note, as reported yesterday by MacRumors, the Android camp can also be expected to dedicate more resources to developing hardware and applications that leverage facial recognition capabilities.
Want to try Apple's new face unlock feature but don't want to buy an iPhone?
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)'s stock had its "market perform" rating reiterated by Wells Fargo & Co in a research note issued to investors on Friday.
"With legislative efforts now focused around USA tax reform, we think Apple could be one of the biggest beneficiaries in our space", RBC analyst Amit Daryanani said in a report.
Interestingly, even if demand for Apple's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is well below customer interest in the iPhone X, the availability of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at the end of the quarter still may provide a nice boost to iPhone sales.
You can't even order an iPhone X until October 27 and already many are complaining about the handset's controversial notch at the top of the device. Many Apple fans were anxious about being locked out of their iPhone if Face ID didn't work properly, but it seems like Apple has managed to put their fears to rest, at least for now. Some reports state that the iPhone 8 was split into two upon unboxing, but others say that the handsets were destroyed after a few days of use.
