Tiger Woods admits he may not play again competitively

Charl Schwartzel of the International Team plays a shot during a practice round prior to the Presidents Cup on September 26, 2017 at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.

He said he shared with the team an editorial by retired Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, who said the national anthem gave athletes from different teams and fans with opposing views a few minutes to forget their differences.

Most of those inquiries centred on Woods' health and if there is a timetable for his return.

"We've had that discussion already...none of my players want to do that", the veteran told ESPN.

"First things first: Get my health organized, make sure the pain goes way. It's a joke, smile, OK". "I had Vijay once (2000), I had Greg in Australia (1998), I had Ernie in South Africa (2003)", Woods said. I suppose everybody has a right to display their first-amendment rights.

Steve Stricker is the non-playing team captain, while Fred Couples, Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, and Tiger Woods are non-playing assistant captains.

He will be teeing up in his third Presidents Cup when the Internationals take on the United States in the biennial matchplay competition, which the Americans have dominated with nine wins in 11 editions to one for the Internationals and one draw.

"You try get the top players to play against each other". And it's been a lot of fun.

But Woods, who has won 14 major titles but played in none over the last two years, said he remained positive despite undergoing a fourth bout of back surgery in April. Our country has fought hard for that right. "That we can progress as a nation and come together, not just only the near future, but for perpetuity".

"Unfortunately, devastations like that do happen". "I'm feeling good, strong and doing really well", he wrote. It was fun to celebrate his PGA Championship win with him and Rickie, and we had a blast. We know how to help each other out, pick people up and also pull them back if they're getting too excited. And if he does get to that stage, could Woods return to being the best golfer on the planet, like he was in his 20s?

Tiger Woods hasn't played a competitive round of golf in almost a year.

"Yeah, definitely", he said.

I've gotten to say - I'd be disappointed in Reed if the shoes were anything but that, even though I didn't know such a design existed until I saw them on his feet.

Last week, Woods released a lengthy statement on his website in which he said he had begun hitting 60-yard shots but was not yet cleared to hit full shots due to the limitations on twisting recommended by his doctors.
