Help Clear the Shelters with HEB & the Austin Humane Society

Across the country, over 50,000 pets found their homes previous year during the Clear the Shelters event.

"Clear the Shelter" is a nationwide event, one day a year, where all adoption fees and even dogs license fees are waived.

In partnership with Telemundo Las Vegas, the shelter is joining hundreds of animal shelters across the country in a nationwide effort to find all shelter pets loving forever homes.

The Second Chance Animal Shelter in Boaz now houses more than 300 dogs that need a "forever home".

During Clear The Shelter - discount pet adoption fees as part of the drive.

The event will be held at the Isabel y Garcia Animal Shelter, located at 262 Woody Lane in Port Isabel, from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. "Hopefully we can find homes for all of them".

"I hope it goes to helping the animals and making them feel more at home". Shelters like the Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston will be offering free or reduced fee adoptions that day.

"We are looking for good, qualified adopters", she said.

LHS adopted out more than 100 animals in eight hours previous year, its first as a participant.

Shelters around Northeast Louisiana participated, bringing in community members of all ages and backgrounds.

Senior-aged dogs "don't get adopted very often, and they're so sweet and lazy, which is me", Guan said, adding that the older dogs are "better for my lifestyle".

"We've been pleasantly busy today and have several adoptions of dogs as well as cats", Kim Leonard, Deaf Smith County Humane Society President said. They donate 1% from each bag sold in Central Texas to Austin Humane Society. She points out that the relationship between Wichita Animal Services and the Kansas Humane Society, which share a campus, is unique.

The Saskatoon SPCA is waiving adoption fees for adult cats and reducing fees for kitten adoptions as part of the campaign.
