One of the most controversial statements Kaepernick made past year was directed at future President Donald Trump: "He always says make America great again".
Cutler, 34, first took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that he would be joining the Miami Dolphins. Gase is hoping to find some of that magic back with Cutler from their days together in the Windy City.
Cutler had one of his best seasons in 2015, when he achieved a career-high passer rating (92.3) while ranking 10th in Total QBR (65.9).
Tannehill can help. And it seems he's all-in on helping Cutler, the same way he helped Moore after his initial knee injury near the end of last season. Gase joined Miami in 2016, and Cutler parted with Chicago in March after eight seasons.
"After watching past year, I saw basically the same stuff; then he got injured". To have him back in football is cool for me, because I get to watch him play. The damage is similar last year's injury, a personal familiar with the diagnosis said, which has left the Dolphins consulting with specialists to determine whether surgery is the best option for Tannehill.
Cutler will not play in Miami's preseason opener, Thursday against the Falcons. In Gase's eyes Cutler merely needs time in order to develop chemistry with his wide receivers. "... I am happy for him".
"But we got a way to go".
When you think he can't possibly make a worse throw... It was really pretty good with where I was in my life. The Dolphins were apparently looking at Kaepernick as a replacement for injured starter Ryan Tannehill, but ultimately went elsewhere. He is deserving of and covets the opportunity to lead the Dolphins as a starting quarterback, but it doesn't appear that he'll be given the chance.
The fourth and final preseason game is nearly always a showcase of younger players battling for the final few roster spots and the practice squad. I told Adam thanks for bringing me in.
"We're confident in the people upstairs to do the right thing for this team", Stills said.
