US President Donald Trump has pushed back against Mr James Comey, accusing the ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation director of lying about their private conversations - and saying he is "100 per cent" willing to testify under oath.
"I think he's proven himself to be a dishonest man of bad character", Trump Jr. said.
"Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction", Trump said.
The White House has repeatedly tried to shift the focus away from the content of Comey's allegations and onto the manner of their release.
Tapes could resolve the dispute, but Trump against refused to say whether they exist, telling reporters he would do so "maybe sometime in the very near future". "And there would be nothing wrong if I did say it according to everybody that I've read today, but I did not say that", he said. "I'm not hinting anything". "You're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer".
President Ronald Reagan falsely denied to Americans that the United States had traded weapons to Iran for hostages and was blamed for members of his administration lying to Congress about their providing support to the Nicaraguan Contras despite a congressional ban on doing so. He said Trump might have similarly hoped to induce an obligation in a March 30 phone call suggesting that he hadn't questioned the Democratic political ties of the wife of Comey's deputy.
Trump tweeted early Friday that he feels vindicated by Comey's testimony.
"...and WOW, Comey is a leaker!"
During special coverage of Comey's testimony from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. ET, Fox News finished first in total viewers with 3.1 million but was third in the key adults 25-54 demographic with 600,000 viewers.
Trump didn't stop there, however.
Trump had stayed unusually quiet on Thursday, refraining from weighing in on the testimony gripping the country both on Twitter and at several public appearances. Then Trump has to have him -- or her - surgically attached to his hip.
But the self-imposed silence didn't last.
"One hundred percent", Trump said.

Comey testified Thursday that Trump asked him to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and implied Trump may have become the subject of investigation himself for interfering in the FBI's work.
Trump abruptly fired Comey as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 9, later admitting that the Russian Federation probe was on his mind at the time. During the campaign, candidate Trump made or repeated a long list of statements about Hillary Clinton and the Democrats that had no basis in truth.
Comey was pilloried for his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, yet is now seen as a critical cog in the inquiry into possible connections between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign. Mueller's current appointment authority doesn't cover investigation of the FBI or its former director.
"We also were aware of facts that I can't discuss in an open setting that would make (Sessions') continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic, " Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday.
