Indian hockey team bring cheer to Indians after beating Pakistan

India will be looking to avenge their loss to Holland at the Rio Olympics a year ago as the teams face off in their final pool stage game at the ongoing Hockey World League Semifinals. Goel hailed the goal scorers Harmanpreet Singh, Talwinder Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Pradeep More for their splendid performance.

To be fair, the Hockey/Kho Kho team one wasn't bad banter considering the manner in which Pakistan slumped to a 124 run defeat against India at the start of the tournament.

"Indian mothers will tell stories of this day to their kids that be afraid when Pakistan comes". Into the third quarter, Harmanpreet struck in the 33rd minute.

It was India's show all the way in the second half, in a mere 13 minutes, India managed to score the first goal as Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner. We've now restored our pride in the final because of the way we lost the first match to India.

With Pakistan's defence all over the place, five minutes into the second quarter attacker Talwinder Singh made it 2-0.

The Hockey World League Finals will be held in Bhubaneshwar comprising of the teams who qualify for this tournament. Earlier, India had beaten Pakistan 7-4 on two occasions, first in Champions Trophy in 2003 and then at Commonwealth Games 2010. Young defender Mor beat the Pakistani goalkeeper Amjad Ali with a stinging shot from the top of the circle in the 49th minute to make it six-nil. Many dramatically broke their TV sets, some denunciated the team, criticising them of robbing India's pride (as if they are the arbiters of when and how and under what circumstances India can lose its "pride") and a few others made empty, mindless accusations of players fixing the match. Pakistan saved the blushes with a consolation goal in the 57th minute by Umar Bhutta Muhammad. India delivered a brutal blow to the neighbors by hammering them 7-1. But we only scored a single goal.

India will next play the Netherlands on Tuesday, while Pakistan will face Scotland on Monday.

"I want to congratulate Pakistan, they had an awesome tournament, the way they turned things around, speak volumes for the talent they have", Kohli had at the post-match presentation ceremony. With India's win, the country has been in congratulatory mode.
